Deansgrange Cycleway

We are delighted that our proposals for the Deansgrange Road Active Travel Route have been accepted and approved by the Council. Later this year, we will have a segregated dual cycleway along with two-way traffic on Deansgrange Road. We have avoided any use of the cemetery for the Active Travel routes along Deansgrange Road.

DLR Council’s revised plan required the removal of all on-street parking on Deansgrange Road. But my SocDem colleagues and I identified an area of open ground, just inside the northern entrance, that can be used to provide car parking for users of the cemetery. Subject to further clarification of the cemetery’s bye-laws and other planning issues, this has the potential to provide parking facilities for others.

We also proposed changes to the Deansgrange Road/Kill Lane junction as well as extending the cycleway onto Clonkeen Road. These changes will be included in a wider review of Deansgrange Village next year, 12 months after the Active Travel route is opened.
